Labor Day

We did an epic hike at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. H and R did 5 miles and the rest of us did 4.

Random hiking photos

Since we take a hike almost every evening, it is hard to keep track of it all. Our favorite hikes involve mountains and arroyos, though we have been venturing into the forest lately.

Fall colors

On Saturday after cello group class, I accompanied Mommy on our now-annual fall colors drive. This time we tried Guanella Pass and got to see beautiful aspen stands changing to bright yellow and gold.
We hiked around the summit for 5 minutes before the wind got too strong.

[On last year's drive, a guy at McDonald's overheard us talking about palindromes and he shared his favorite with us: Sit on a potato pan, Otis. Since we have several Otises (i.e., Baby Otis and Colorful Baby Otis, both owls), we thought that was hilarious.]

Lily Lake hike

Mommy loves a good road trip and has been itching to revisit Rocky Mountain National Park, so we took off on the Fourth of July for a hike. H and R were too lazy to come, so I got to pretend to be an only child.

Rocks for jocks

Richard will allegedly get extra credit in science for getting his picture taken in front of sedimentary rock layers, so off we went to Dinosaur Ridge to make it happen.
