Every night at bedtime, I sing the "I Love Mommy" song, which I made up several months ago. But recently, I've become more ambivalent about my feelings. The following conversation occurred several days ago:
Mommy: I love you!
Me: (silence)
Mommy: Do you love Mommy?
Me: (long pause) I don't want to talk about it.
Mommy: Why not?
Me: (looking very somber) Because I think I love ice cream and candy more than you! I wish I could love you more than ice cream.
The end.
