BBBoulder

BBB came to Boulder for a little day trip and enjoyed the experience.

Isn't it way past your bbbedtime?

Not a fan of hotel breakfast?

Dinosaur National Monument

We took a little Thanksgiving road trip to Vernal, Utah, to see Dinosaur National Monument. We also managed to hike to Moonshine Arch, which was tricky because there are no signs and it's a mile off the road. No fewer than three Chimmies accompanied us, as well as a tapir and BBB the bat. Geo was sad he couldn't fit Duck in his suitcase.

Fun with Line Friends

George and Henry love Line Friends, as we all know. Here they are with some Line Friends Christmas loot. (They do NOT like BTS, though, and strenuously deny that they are--or ever will be--part of ARMY.)

Haircut!

Geo let us cut his hair after some intense bribery. Mommy is finally realizing that he is a master con artist!

Geo updates - a fussy photoessay

Having fun at Staples, his happy place (he loves office supplies, especially pens and notebooks)

Drawing solar systems, a new interest of his (geography on earth is too limiting, it seems)

Hanging out with "Munchy Brown," his favorite Line Friend

Reading at the table is expressly permitted in our household. Geo is the only one who does it. He is reading a "Junior Genius Guide" on geography.

Cello group class with Geo is fun when he is actually paying attention, which he does on occasion

Everything's fussier in Texas - Part III

We spent the next two days in San Antonio, where we explored the Alamo, Witte Museum, Japanese garden, zoo, and River Walk. Altogether, it was a pleasant vacation though nothing will ever top Korea for George, and he begs every day to go back to Korea and go to Line Friends and take the train to Busan.

The second day we explored the Longhorn Cavern State Park. We took a 90-minute cave tour and saw some adorable sleeping tri-color bats. (BBB came along for the tour.) During the evening, we headed back to Austin to catch some live bluegrass music and eat from a Thai food cart.

Everything's fussier in Texas - Part I

We spent fall break in Texas this year, mostly because we heard there are bats there and Geo has been obsessed with bats since our trip to Carlsbad.

We spent our first day at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg. We saw an educational program complete with a reenactment featuring a flame thrower that the boys loved. Otto Brown came along and tried to drive a tank.

Later that evening we headed to downtown Austin to the Congress Avenue Bridge and saw thousands of bats fleeing their home underneath the bridge to catch some bugs.

Bring your BBBs to work

BBB (the Carlsbad Cavern bat formerly known as Bradley Bartholomew Boris) accompanied Mommy to her office last week. How cccute!

Fall colors

On Saturday after cello group class, I accompanied Mommy on our now-annual fall colors drive. This time we tried Guanella Pass and got to see beautiful aspen stands changing to bright yellow and gold.
We hiked around the summit for 5 minutes before the wind got too strong.

[On last year's drive, a guy at McDonald's overheard us talking about palindromes and he shared his favorite with us: Sit on a potato pan, Otis. Since we have several Otises (i.e., Baby Otis and Colorful Baby Otis, both owls), we thought that was hilarious.]

Black Canyon of the Gunnison

We did a quick Labor Day weekend roadtrip to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a national park in Western Colorado. We still need to make it to the Great Sand Dunes, but otherwise have visited all of the national parks in Colorado!

Picnic Pudget

The rest of the brothers were too cool to hang out with Mom at her department's picnic, so Geo got to be a spoiled only child, eat half-a-dozen cupcakes, and have fun playing with bubbles and chalk, as well as partaking in cornhole, softball, and general running around.
