The big day came and we were ready. We had our spot in Casper and had three times the eclipse glasses we needed. We set up our telescope and waited. What a show! The sky turned an eerie, otherworldly color, then people began to cheer as totality began. The sun's corona sparkled and dazzled. The sky looked like twilight rather than midnight. The boys thought it was amazing and can't stop talking about it. Next stop on the eclipse tour--April 2024!

Exploding Kittens - Eclipse edition
We are chasing the eclipse and had to find ways to pass the time. Enter Exploding Kittens, a dastardly game that Mommy and Henry have been dominating so far. Tomorrow we will try to visit Mt. Rushmore as we await the alignment of sun and moon.

Stretching it out
The boys had a great first day of school! They stretched out their bedtime as long as possible by playing nicely, both with their animals and with Henry's new Risk game.

Clay shooting
Mommy and Richard went shooting and of course Richard hit the most clay pigeons in our group. Mommy discovered she is not a great shotgunner. So sad! We all went for dim sum afterward. Richard tried chicken feet while Mommy went for tripe.

Japanese Owl aka Wawa
Since George really digs owls, we got him a cute little new friend, originally called "Japanese Owl" because it came from the Portland Japanese Garden, but now affectionately known as "Wawa."
Wawa likes to watch George practice his instruments and opine as to whether he did a good job or not. Wawa also likes to get directly involved in music:

Super Henry!
We picked up Henry from the School of Mines today--he got a great evaluation, produced an amazing mini comic book featuring "Lazy Man," and was ready to catch up on a week's worth of Pokemon YouTube videos. (Popplio was happy to return home, too.)

Take me out to the ball game...
We ventured out to Coors Field for the Rockies vs. Mets game. The boys are probably not going to become die-hard baseball fans but had a good time eating overpriced food.
Today Richard leaves for a Boy Scout rafting trip, and tomorrow we get Henrykins back from CBK!!!
